Clare Foundation has kindly funded an essential project about to be undertaken by the NDSA in 2026 and 2027 looking into ākonga experiences with pastoral care in tertiary education
Clare is a progressive philanthropic foundation that wants more for our people and planet. Through a proactive approach, Clare invests in ways that positively impact our environment, oral health, youth wellbeing and women, to create extraordinary change.

Spectrum Foundation
Spectrum Foundation generously enabled the NDSA’s 2026 Learner Training Hui to take place, supporting disabled ākonga leaders across the country
Spectrum Foundation is a disabled-informed philanthropic funder that breaks the barriers faced by disabled people and their whānau. Our vision is simple:
An Aotearoa in which all disabled people have equal opportunity to live good lives.
We fund projects and initiatives that strengthen self-determination, equitable access, disability leadership, and connection for disabled people and their whānau.

Whaikaha
Ministry of Disabled People
Whaikaha have provided the NDSA with support for holding consultation in 2025 on the New Zealand Disability Strategy, and provided us funding to explore becoming a Disabled People’s Organisation in 2026
At Whaikaha, we want an Aotearoa where disabled people and tāngata whaikaha Māori are thriving.
As a Ministry we are dedicated to this goal, working with government, businesses, and communities to drive real change.
We do this by investing in disability communities, providing strategic and policy advice across government, monitoring how well services are working, and identifying new, exciting opportunities to make a difference.

Hāpai Hapori | Community Matters
The national Lottery Community committee has helped to support the NDSA’s ongoing operating costs for 2026
Hāpai Hapori supports community connection, innovation, and empowers iwi, hapū, and communities to lead their own development. Our mahi includes advisory and funding services across Lottery, Crown, and Trust funds.

Te Pūkenga
Te Pūkenga helped in 2022 and 2023 to enable the NDSA to carry out its Vocational Ākonga Subcommittee and provide voice to vocational learners in Aotearoa
Te Pūkenga was the largest vocational education provider in Aotearoa from 2020 to 2026, representing 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) and nine Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) across the country.

Ako Aotearoa
Ako Aotearoa supported the NDSA’s Awards Night 2025 and our ability to participate in Ako hui
Ako Aotearoa, also known as the National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence, was a much-appreciated ally of the NDSA.
Although no longer receiving funding as of June 30th 2025, Ako Aotearoa was a government-funded organisation committed to supporting the country’s tertiary sector teachers, trainers and educators be the best they can be for the learners’ success.

Youth Movement Fund
The Youth Movement Fund provided the NDSA with multi-year funding from 2023 to 2025 to support our ongoing sustainability
The goals of the Youth Movement Fund (YMF) are to back youth movements to transform Aotearoa and the world, and to nurture cross-movement collabotration, kinship, and solidarity.
The Youth Movement Fund Committee is intended to made up of those working in and belonging to communities related to YMF’s kaupapa.

Ministry of Education
In 2021, the Ministry of Education provided the NDSA start-up funding to help establish and support our Association
We set direction for education agencies and providers, and help the New Zealand Government reach its goals for education.
We deliver policies and services focused on our leadership role in the tertiary sector. We:
- develop strategic policy for the tertiary sector and international education
- undertake relevant research and analysis
- monitor the performance and capacity of Crown entities.
